Out of the Box

For dinner I had chicken.
So good, it was finger licking.
Along with it a salad of kale
to keep me hearty and hale.
I threw the meat on the grill,
that’s cooking without any frill.
Onions, mushrooms and peppers went into a pan,
to be sautéed as quick as you can.
Altogether it was a meal so delicious
but not so very avaricious,
Ordering it all on-line,
suites me just fine.
Days later I open the door,
and there it is right there on the floor.
To keep it all fresh and nice
it is packed between slabs of ice.
But it is always a meal for two,
and now I wish you were here, yes you.
‘cause your absence I rue.
