Avid Reader

There was a knock on the door,
I look down at the floor.
Oh, there was lying a bag
with many a book to be had.
That’s just peachy dandy
because I devour them like candy.
Some are about history,
many a delicious mystery.
They are now stacking up in a pile,
because I have been reading all the while.
I welcome the day
when the virus has gone away,
and then that pile of books I scan,
knowing that I will need a moving van.
At the Mill Valley Library they will need lots of elves
to build that many more shelves
to house that many a book,
and I wish them with that good luck.
